In the summer of 2006 the documentary filmmaker
Sean Langan was denied access to travel to the south
of Helmand with British troops. Instead he
hitched a lift with the Afghan security forces.
This journey ended in Garmsir where Sean
met Doug. Over the next week Sean caught
the resulting battle on camera and turned
it into a Channel 4 Dispatches programme
Fighting the Taliban. The film can be seen
